Brigade Direct Vision DVS 2024 Radar Predict Progressive Safe System Upgrade – 7675

The NEW Brigade Radar Predict Direct Vision DVS 2 upgrade kit is the latest innovation in side and front detection safety designed to meet the new DVS 2 requirements from TFL. This progressive safe system upgrade kit will ensure your vehicle meets the minimum requirements for the Direct Vision Standard. Suitable for Articulated and Rigid Vehicles with DVS 2020 equipment already fitted. Ideal for customers who currently already comply to DVS phase 1 (safe permit) but need to upgrade to the PSS (Progressive Safe System).

Specifically designed to protect VRU’s from collisions with HGVs. The advanced radar system uses AI technology to detect a potential collision by analysing data such as speed and direction of both the vehicle and VRU’s. By differentiating between static and moving objects, the Radar Predict algorithm alerts the driver when an impact with a VRU is likely.

HGVs pose a risk to both pedestrians and cyclists, with collisions involving a large vehicle far more likely to prove fatal than those involving a car. Many collisions between cyclists and HGVs occur because the driver has limited direct vision (the ability to see what is outside their cab without using indirect means of mirrors or cameras).

The single dual-radar unit is fitted on the nearside of the truck and gives complete coverage to the side of the vehicle, including the trailer unit. The trailer discovery mode detects whether the vehicle is fitted with a trailer and prevents articulation causing false alerts. The driver is alerted if a cyclist enters the detection zone and receives a second warning if a collision is predicted.

An MOIS advanced dual-radar collision prediction system with a 180° detection angle in front of the vehicle also alerts drivers through visual and audible signals. The driver is alerted if a cyclist enters the detection zone and receives a second warning if a collision is predicted.

How Does It Work?

The unit is positioned on the nearside of the truck and gives complete coverage to the side of the vehicle, including the trailer unit coverage. The driver is alerted if a cyclist enters the detection zone and receives a second warning if a collision is predicted.

Radar Predict issues warnings in three distinct levels:

  • Level 1 Warning:
  • This activates when the steering wheel angle is under 30 degrees, and a cyclist or pedestrian enters the warning zone. In this instance, a section of yellow warning LEDs illuminates.

  • Level 2 Warning:
  • When the vehicle turns left with a steering wheel angle exceeding 30 degrees, and a collision with a cyclist or pedestrian is anticipated within a specific timeframe, Radar Predict triggers a Level 2 warning. Yellow warning LEDs begin to flash in this situation.

  • Level 3 Warning:
  • If the vehicle turns left, the steering wheel angle surpasses 30 degrees or the turn indicator is activated, and a collision becomes imminent, Radar Predict initiates a Level 3 warning. This includes flashing yellow warning LEDs and an audible alert. The corresponding section of yellow warning light LEDs assists the driver in identifying the cyclist’s position.

How does it work?
Level 1 Warning
