Dometic

Dometics company history begins back in 1919 with the invention of the world’s first refrigerator by two Swedish engineering students. In 1923 the patent for the refrigerator and manufacturing rights were acquired by Swedish company Arctic. In 1925, Electrolux (an appliance company) acquires Arctic and the sale of millions of refrigerators begins. In the 1950’s, Electrolux begins to make its way into the leisure market. By the end of the 1960’s, Electrolux has given its leisure appliances division a name: Dometic. In 2001, Electrolux removes its interests in the leisure market. Dometic must now to stand on its own feet. This independence is achieved by the company as its staying true to its roots and relentlessly developing smart, often award-winning, solutions. As the new century progresses further, it becomes clear that there are more people across the world who have the desire to live mobile. Professional truck drivers whose whole business depends on this idea are just one of their many areas. For the rest, it’s leisure. Regardless of these two separate needs they all share essential requirements – like cooking, taking care of personal hygiene and maintaining a comfortable temperature. This simple truth provides the foundation for a new concept that captures the Dometic offer: “Mobile living made easy.”
